Dr Mark Lovatt spoke on “Integrity in Business: Why it matters, What to do”
The presentation was part of the Integrity Day of Top Glove, the world’s largest rubber glove manufacturer and one of the leading companies in the area of business integrity in Malaysia. Dr Mark started by explaining why Malaysia is facing significant challenges in the area of corruption, yet is still performing better than many of its neighbours in South-East Asia. Dr Mark then used several case studies to show that integrity matters greatly in business. The first case study focused on the Chinese milk powder scandal of 2008, which illustrates the disastrous harm that can be caused if some parts of the economy act without integrity. Another case study examined Toyota and showed how the Japanese car manufacturer was able to gain the trust of its customers through a deliberate focus on customer value.
Representatives from all levels of Top Glove, including the board of directors, were at the event, where Datuk Paul Low Seng Kuan, Minister for Governance and Integrity, gave the keynote speech. The event took place at Top Glove Tower.
